Steam Machine status

Valve opened signups June 22, 2026. In its Limited Drop Program regions, Steam Machine uses reservation queues and waitlists rather than ordinary checkout. Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong use a separate KOMODO ordering path, while Valve says Steam Machine will not ship in South Korea. Your next step depends on your region and list.

Valve published its latest reservation and waitlist update on July 28, 2026. We checked that update, the Limited Drop Program terms, and the official Steam Machine page again on September 1, 2026.

Already holding a reservation

1. Remain in the reservation queue for the selected product and region.
2. Valve says it is fulfilling orders daily and expects people who were already in a reservation queue on July 28 to receive a purchase opportunity by the end of 2026.
3. When the queue position comes up, Valve sends a purchase email.
4. The purchase link expires 72 hours after Valve sends it.

That target is a purchase-opportunity target for the July 28 reservation cohort. It is not a promise that the product will ship or arrive by the end of the year.

Currently on a waitlist

1. Remain on the waitlist for the selected product and region.
2. The waitlist can begin moving only after the matching reservation queue reaches its end.
3. If Valve promotes that waitlist position, it sends a reservation confirmation first.
4. Valve sends a separate purchase email later, when that reservation position comes up.
5. The same 72-hour purchase window applies.

Valve has not promised that every waitlisted buyer will be promoted or offered a purchase.

Valve maintains four separate product lists:

• Steam Machine 512GB
• Steam Machine 512GB with Steam Controller
• Steam Machine 2TB
• Steam Machine 2TB with Steam Controller

Those lists are also separated into North America, UK/EU, and Australia. Movement in one model-region list does not establish movement, inventory, or timing in another.

The model lists were randomized June 25 at 10 a.m. Pacific. Anyone signing up after that randomization joins the back of the applicable product-region waitlist. Waitlisted buyers do not move ahead of people who already hold reservations for the same list.

The Limited Drop Program covers legal residents of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, EU member states, and Australia. In Asia, the official Steam Machine page directs buyers in Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong to KOMODO. Valve says Steam Machine will not ship in South Korea.

Valve has not published:

• Total reservation-queue or waitlist sizes
• A public personal queue position
• Remaining inventory or production totals
• Waitlist odds or a conversion rate
• Per-model or per-region progress percentages
• A waitlist ETA or exact product-region timeline

Community reports cannot fill those official gaps. A missing report also does not mean that a list has stopped moving.

• Valve does not allow changing the model tied to a selected list after randomization.
• Canceling a reservation or leaving a waitlist releases that place.
• Reservation and purchase rights are personal, non-transferable, and cannot be sold.
• Do not buy, sell, or trade a reservation or purchase link.
• Check status through the official Steam Machine page, your Steam account, and Valve's emails. Never give anyone Steam credentials or cookies to check a place in line.

Valve's July 28 update also covers two product changes:

• FSR4.1: Valve says it is now available through Proton Experimental for titles that support the FSR upgrade feature. This is experimental availability, not a promise that every game supports it or that it is enabled by default.
• External geometry: Valve published a downloadable Steam Machine CAD file for the outside of the device. It is external-shell geometry, not internal engineering or manufacturing CAD.
