The 2026 Steam Controller launched May 4, 2026, according to Steam's store data, and Valve opened reservations on May 8, 2026 after launch stock sold through. This site follows reservations, queue movement, shipping, and delivery signals rather than normal open stock.
Valve's June 18 reservation update says reservations remain open and groups estimated order-email timing into three windows: by September 2026, by December 2026, or in 2027. Those are broad official estimates, not a public lookup for an individual's place or guaranteed invite date.
Valve's current Steam Controller product page still presents the reservation path. That does not establish ordinary checkout stock, an individual purchase offer, shipment, or delivery.
Initial reviews and feedback
Early reviews are favorable within a clear use case: a Steam-centered couch PC controller, not a universal Xbox-style pad replacement or tournament controller.
| Source | What reviewers liked | Main caveat |
|---|---|---|
| PC Gamer | Comfortable couch-PC design, useful trackpads, gyro mouse-style input, deep Steam Input customization, and easy teardown. | It is priced above many simpler pads and is not the strongest fit for competitive-controller buyers. |
| Gamers Nexus | Puck wireless tested close to wired in its click-to-photon setup, battery life beat Valve's 35+ hour claim in a limited no-rumble endurance test, and the controller was easy to access internally. | Bluetooth was much less consistent under interference, and non-Steam behavior still needs caveats. |
| Tom's Hardware | Steam Input customization, trackpads, back buttons, comfort, and long charge life. | It works best when your gaming life runs through Steam. |
| GamesRadar+ | Couch PC navigation, trackpads for mouse-and-keyboard games, comfort, battery life, and unusual versatility. | Better competitive gamepads exist for the money, and profile management is still tied to Steam menus. |
| Windows Central and WIRED | Steam Input, community layouts, the magnetic Puck, build quality, TMR sticks, and Steam-library fit. | Xbox PC app, Epic, GOG, and other non-Steam paths remain the biggest buying caveat. WIRED's launch-period review predates Steam Machine shipping and should be read in that context. |
What community reports show
The Steam Hardware Tracker groups anonymous reservation, invite, purchase, shipped, and delivered reports. With enough matching reports, it can show queue movement and typical time between milestones. Those are community observations, not Valve's inventory, an owner-satisfaction survey, or your private order status.
What is still unknown
The current evidence cannot tell you:
- your personal queue position
- the next guaranteed invite date
- one queue position that applies to every country
- a promised delivery date for a specific reservation
- private account or order status
Country views and queue differences
Select your country before comparing queue progress. Reports from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, European Union, and Australia can show different reservation ranges. The all-country view does not show a single queue edge because it would combine those different queues.
This page links to the United States / Standard view. Use the full tracker for other country views and report-level detail.

FAQ
What is the current Steam Controller queue range?
The tracker shows how far purchase invites have reached only when enough matching reports support a range. If no range appears, there are not enough reports yet.
What do shipping and delivery timings mean?
They describe the time between milestones in matched community reports. They appear only when there are enough reports and do not confirm whether your own order has shipped. Check your order information from Valve for that.
