Slay the Spire 2 returned to No. 1 in Valve's latest Steam Deck chart, Palworld slipped to second, and Fields of Mistria made the month's standout move: No. 44 to No. 3.

Fields of Mistria broke into the top three
Fields of Mistria now sits ahead of Stardew Valley, Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Balatro. Its 41-place climb overlaps with the game's full release: NPC Studio's 1.0 update arrived on August 5.
That timing makes the release the clearest explanation for the jump, but the chart does not prove why people played. It records rank movement, not purchase sources, play hours, or the share of players who returned for 1.0.
Slay the Spire 2 made the quieter move at the top. It rose one place after finishing second in the prior period, pushing July leader Palworld down to No. 2.

August had six unusually large climbs
Fields of Mistria was not alone. PEAK rose from No. 38 to No. 9, Project Zomboid from No. 41 to No. 12, KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX from No. 47 to No. 18, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered from No. 53 to No. 21, and HELLDIVERS 2 from No. 48 to No. 24.
Those moves cover very different kinds of games. PEAK and Project Zomboid are social survival games, KINGDOM HEARTS is a collection of older action RPGs, Spider-Man is a single-player open-world game, and HELLDIVERS 2 is a live co-op shooter. The common result is renewed Deck play, not one shared reason for it.
Big Walk was the only game with no prior-period rank to enter the top 25, debuting at No. 23. Cult of the Lamb also returned to the cutoff after rising eight places to No. 25.
July's risers cooled off
Several games that climbed in July moved sharply the other way. DELTARUNE fell from No. 14 to No. 46, Diablo IV from No. 19 to No. 51, and Forza Horizon 6 from No. 17 to No. 31.
The top of the list was steadier. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Stardew Valley, Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Balatro, and Brotato all remained in the top 10. Long-running Deck fixtures can hold their position while launches and updates reshuffle the lower half of the chart.
